Most people choose a digital marketing course in Mauritius the same way they choose a restaurant: a friend’s recommendation, a nice-looking brochure, a start date that fits.
Then week three arrives. The slides are dense, the examples feel far from real work, and the pace is either painfully slow or far too fast.
The course wasn’t necessarily bad. It just wasn’t built for the way you learn.
I’ve trained marketing teams and career changers for years, and I’ve seen this pattern again and again. Two people sit in the same room, follow the same programme, and walk out with completely different results.
In this guide, I’ll show you exactly what to look for before you sign up, why I think every student should take a pre-assessment first, and how my own programmes are built around that idea.
Key takeaways
- A good course gets you working in real ad accounts, not just watching slides.
- Look for up-to-date AI content and a trainer who still runs live campaigns.
- Check for MQA approval: HRDC only refunds employers for programmes with prior MQA (or HEC) approval.
- Before choosing any course, take a pre-assessment to find your learning type and starting level.
- My free pre-assessment takes about 15 to 20 minutes and leads to a personalised learning plan.
What to look for in a digital marketing course in Mauritius
Digital marketing changes fast. A course that was excellent three years ago can be quietly out of date today.
Here are the six things I’d check before paying for any programme.
1. Practical work in real ad accounts
You don’t learn Meta or Google Ads by reading about them. You learn by setting up a campaign, choosing an audience, watching the numbers move and fixing what doesn’t work.
Ask the provider a simple question: will I build and manage campaigns in a real ad account during the course? If the answer is vague, that tells you a lot.
If you want a taste of what that hands-on work looks like, my guide to mastering Facebook Ads Manager is a good starting point.
2. Up-to-date AI content
AI is no longer a bonus module. It now shapes how ads are bought, how content is written and how campaigns are optimised.
A modern course should show you how to use AI tools in your daily work, and also where they go wrong. Look for topics like AI agents in campaign management, automated bidding and generative search, not just “how to write a prompt”.
3. A trainer with real industry experience
There’s a big difference between someone who teaches marketing and someone who does marketing every day.
Ask who will actually train you. Do they manage live budgets? Do they deal with real clients, real tracking problems and real platform changes? The best trainers bring last week’s lessons into this week’s class.
4. HRDC refundable and MQA approved status
If your employer is paying, this one matters a lot.
According to the HRDC eligibility rules, only employers contributing monthly to the training levy can claim, and only courses that have received the prior approval of the Mauritius Qualifications Authority (or the Higher Education Commission) qualify. The training must also be job-related and lead to new skills.
The refund itself depends on the employer’s levy. HRDC’s rate of refund page lists 70 to 75% of training costs for most employers, and up to 90% for courses explicitly focused on AI (up to Diploma level) from 1 July 2024, subject to the grant ceiling and scheme limits.
Always confirm the exact amount for your case directly with HRDC, and check a provider’s approval status with the MQA.
5. A recognised certificate
A certificate won’t make you a great marketer on its own. But a recognised one shows employers and clients that the programme met an official standard.
In Mauritius, MQA approval is the signal to look for, and as you’ve just seen, it’s also what unlocks HRDC refunds for employers.
6. Support and feedback
Learning stalls when you get stuck and nobody notices.
Ask how feedback works. Is it one generic comment at the end, or regular, personal feedback on your actual work? Can you track your progress between sessions? Small details like these decide whether you finish strong or quietly drop off.
Before any digital marketing course in Mauritius, take a pre-assessment
Here’s the part most people skip, and it’s the one I care about most.
Not all students learn the same way. Some people need to see a diagram before anything clicks. Others want a clear, step-by-step structure. Some learn best by talking ideas through with others. And some only really understand something once they’ve done it with their own hands.
Put all four types in the same course, at the same pace, with the same feedback, and at least some of them will struggle. Not because they lack talent, but because the format doesn’t fit them.
Starting level matters too. A business owner who already runs Facebook ads and a graduate who has never opened Ads Manager need very different first weeks.
That’s why I believe every student should take a pre-assessment before choosing a course. It turns a guess into an informed decision.
How my free pre-assessment works
I built a free pre-assessment for anyone considering a digital marketing course in Mauritius, whether or not you end up training with me.
- It takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Most questions are multiple choice.
- No marketing knowledge needed. It’s about how you learn, not what you already know.
- It finds your learning type: visual, structured, social or hands-on.
- It identifies your starting level, so you don’t waste weeks on basics or get lost in advanced topics.

At the end, you get a personalised learning plan built around four things:
- Your learning type, so lessons and exercises match the way you absorb information.
- Your pace, so you move fast where you’re confident and slow down where you need to.
- Your feedback style, so the comments you receive actually help you improve.
- Your personal goal, whether that’s a new job, growing your own business or leading a marketing team.
You can take the free pre-assessment here. It’s the single best 20 minutes you can spend before committing to any course.
Inside the Digital Marketing & AI Bootcamp
Once you know how you learn, the next question is which programme fits. My flagship is the Digital Marketing & AI Bootcamp, delivered with Oreegami Mauritius.
It runs over 20 weeks and is organised into four learning phases:
- Digital Foundations (weeks 1 to 4): the core concepts, platforms and customer journeys every marketer needs.
- Core Channels & Paid Media (weeks 5 to 10): hands-on work across the main channels, including paid campaigns.
- Advanced Performance & AI (weeks 11 to 16): optimisation, measurement and AI tools applied to real campaigns.
- Strategy & Leadership (weeks 17 to 20): planning, budgeting and leading marketing work with confidence.
Across those phases there are 20 modules. Each one comes with a presentation, reading notes, practical exercises and a revision quiz, so every learning type has something that works for them.
You also get:
- Progress tracking, so you always know where you stand.
- 1:1 trainer feedback on your work, shaped by the feedback style in your learning plan.
- Flexible delivery: in-person, hybrid or online.
- HRDC refundable and MQA approved status, which matters if your employer is funding your training.
Other programmes
If you want to go deep on one area, I also run Data & Analytics Mastery and Mastering AI Tools for Marketers. You’ll find details of all three on my digital marketing training page.
Not sure which one is right for you? That’s exactly what the pre-assessment is for.
Frequently asked questions
How do I choose the right digital marketing course in Mauritius?
Look for practical work in real ad accounts, up-to-date AI content, a trainer with real industry experience, MQA approval, a recognised certificate and regular personal feedback. Before you choose, take a pre-assessment to understand your learning type and starting level.
Can my employer get an HRDC refund for a digital marketing course?
Possibly. HRDC says only employers contributing monthly to the training levy are eligible, and only for courses with prior MQA or HEC approval. Refund rates depend on the employer’s levy, so confirm the exact amount with HRDC.
Do I need marketing experience to take the pre-assessment?
No. The pre-assessment looks at how you learn and where you’re starting from. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes, most questions are multiple choice, and no marketing knowledge is needed.
How long is the Digital Marketing & AI Bootcamp?
The bootcamp runs over 20 weeks, split into four learning phases and 20 modules. You can follow it in person, in a hybrid format or online.
What are the four learning types?
The pre-assessment identifies whether you’re mainly a visual, structured, social or hands-on learner. Your result shapes your personalised learning plan, including your pace and the kind of feedback you receive.

The best digital marketing course in Mauritius isn’t the one with the glossiest brochure. It’s the one that fits how you learn, where you’re starting from and where you want to go.
Check for real practice, current AI content, experienced trainers and official approval. Then start with what most people skip: understanding yourself as a learner.
